Happy Mondays Wickham Labs
[ 3/19/2008 09:45 AM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

What better way can you think of to give you a moral boost for the week than having your place of work demonstrated by determined activists with megaphones and chants on a Monday Morning?

Well that is pretty much sounds like how the workers of Wickham Labs Kicked off their week.

On Monday 17th March, a group of local SWAT activists took once more to the Gates of Hell to let the locals know exactly what sort of people were dealing in death in their neighbourhoods. They held banners and signs and made sure the workers of the Lab were certain of why the activists were there.

The public responce was as good as ever with many people showing their support. Once again this just proves that the tide is against you Wickham Labs, no one wants a torture camp in their back gardens. No one wants 80,000 animals a year to suffer on their doorsteps. The time is coming for change and we will no rest until every cage is empty.

Have a happy weekend. Demo at the Gates of Hell. 15th February 2
[ 3/2/2008 01:24 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

On Friday 15th February, a loud and lively demonstration was held outside Wickham Laboratories to wish the workers a happy weekend. A large banner was attached to the gates of this hell hole which read 'liberate laboratory animals' and an even larger number of protesters from the local area lined the pavement with their banners and placards.

Most of the employees were so ashamed of their shady work practices that they kept their heads down and hid behind police and security guards as they swiftly headed towards their cars.

And talking of cars, the general public honked their horns in support of our cause and many passengers gave us a thumbs up or a congratulatory cheer.

A few of the protesters took turns on the megaphone to remind the workers and managers of the laboratory that they were responsible for the suffering and premature deaths of over 80,000 animals a year. The megaphones also reminded people of the illegal Botox scandal that the labs were associated with just a few years ago, of the state of animals who have been rescued from the labs in previous years and of the sickening letters that the David Walker, the Director of Wickham Labs, has written to the RSPCA asking them to hand over homeless companion animals. The Protesters all chanted 'Shame on you' and 'Blood on your hands' to which some workers had the audacity to laugh at this thought and even threaten us with hand gestures.

Clearly the most damaging moment to Wickham Labs came when clients of Mr Walker's Veterinary surgery and Kennels found out of his sick practices with animals.

From the public reaction it is clear that the support for the friendly local laboratory is numbered and SWAT can promise we will be back with our ever increasing numbers time and time again until all the cages in this sick little corner of the world have been liberated.

I'd rather be dead than Work for Wickham Labs. Demo. 13th Decemb
[ 3/2/2008 01:08 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

International Animal Rights Day - 10 December '07. A demonstration was held outside Wickham labs to coincide with international animal rights day as this laboratory use mice, rats and guinea-pigs in their tests, of which there are alternatives but Wickham labs still live in the dark-age.

The demonstration took on the form of "I rather be dead, than work at Wickham laboratory" and a small white coffin portrayed all the animals that have died within laboratories throughout the world. Approximately a dozen people attended and the demonstration was peaceful. Wickham labs are a contract testing laboratory and use animals to test various products, this can involve the test known as the LD50, all animals experiments are barbaric and cannot guarantee to protect consumers from harm.

Wickham labs should rethink how they perform their tests, and progress into the 21st century!

Sorry Wickham Labs. No New Fence. December 5th 2007
[ 3/2/2008 01:06 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

With reference to the planning application which was submitted by Wickham labs to build a 2.7m fence around the boundaries of Torbay Farm, Lower Upham, it is understood that Wickham labs has withdrawn their request. What next we wonder?

Torbay Farm Protests. 28th November 2007.
[ 3/2/2008 01:05 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

Demonstrations continue at Wickham labs and Torbay Farm, the proposed new site for Wickham labs, and it has been noted that Wickham labs has forwarded a planning application to build a security fence around Torbay Farm at a height of 2.7m. The fence is to be made of galvanised metal with spikes on top, similar to that at Wickham labs, of which the decision date is the 5 December, 07 - watch this space. What next - security lighting?

Halloween Demo at Wickham Labs. 31st October 2007.
[ 3/2/2008 01:04 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

A colourful protest was held at Wickham labs to celebrate halloween, and to remind people that whilst the horrors of halloween may be fun, the horrors inside places like Wickham are all too real.

Torbay Farm Vigil. 15th October 2007
[ 3/2/2008 01:02 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

A candle-lit demonstration was held at Torbay Farm, Lower Upham in Hampshire on Monday evening to highlight the issue that Wickham laboratory can relocate its laboratory to premises which once housed chickens, after a high court ruling stated that the property could be used for research and development, despite the fact that the council had appealed.

The demonstration was attended by various groups from across the South and the aim was to make those aware that every effort would be fulfilled to make sure that the move of this laboratory would not take place. Once the demonstration had reached its height, the blue lights and sirens arrived, where upon our exit was made. To return at a later date. These demonstrations will continue while Wickham laboratory continues to use animals within their experiments.

Wickham Labs National Demo. 15th Sep 07.
[ 3/2/2008 01:01 PM ] - STOP WICKHAM ANIMAL TESTING

The national demonstration against Wickham laboratory was held on Saturday 15 September '07, of which a very good turn out was received.  Prior to the main demo, activist with placards placed themselves in various positions along the main roads into Wickham to advertise that Wickham village housed an animal laboratory.

Meeting in mill lane car-park the march proceeded along various footpaths around Wickham (avoiding parked cars and pedestrian's, and in some instances footpaths only fit for single persons, health and safety issue I think!), before reaching the Square, where three excellent speakers spoke about various points relating to animal experiments, how the drug companies have put pressure onto the government to curtail animal rights activities and how the police forces in England over- abuse their powers.  Next stop was 15 minutes outside the laboratory (are'nt we lucky) which included a 2 minute silence before returning to the Square.  Some demonstrators found the weather too hot and decided to sit down during the 2 minutes silence and forget to get up at the end, whereby the police gave them assistance, thank you, sadley one person was arrested, who was later released on bail to return at a later date.  The march continued through the Square before returning to the car-park.

SWAT would like to thank everybody for attending the demonstration and also a thank you to the speakers, who gave us much to think about
